Llijlla Calcha n1

Llijlla Calcha n1

Llijlla from Calcha in the province of Chichas in Potosí.

Calcha textiles are  recognized by their predominant use of black throughout the weave. The white pallay borders and center are woven with delicate touches of red and green consist of a continuous line of diamond shapes and hooks.

The Llijllas are from the Quechua regions of Bolivia, which are located in the central, southern regions and around some areas near the Lake Titicaca. They are rectangular shaped and are worn by women as a shawl pinned on the front with a topo (pin), and like the Aguayos, they are also used to carry babies as well as any other goods.

  • Product Info

This is a vintage piece - this is a real aguayo that belonged to someone for likely decades. We take great care in hand selecting the pieces we choose and while for the most part they are in amazing conditions, these have been loved and used for many many years and therefore aren't perfect 'brandnew' items. We feel this adds to the beauty and uniqueness of these pieces, and we hope you do too.
