White Alpaca Natural - Cama
Vintage Camas, or Phullu (woven large blanket)
A multipurpose weave used all over Bolivia by both the Aymara and Quechua cultures. They are used as bed spread blankets or rugs.
A great diversity of native plants, minerals or insects are used to dye the wool. While the design is simple, the colors and the combination make them vibrant and stunning. The whole process to make these pieces is entirely by hand. It starts with the wool, either sheep, llama or alpaca that is clipped, collected and cleaned. It is then dyed using a mixture of natural plant based dyes.Newer ones are dyed with synthetic dyes and the colores tend to be a lot brighter.
The Phullu is usually woven on a ground loom or a pedal loom and consists of two separate parts which are then sewn together.
Phullu's make unique bedspreads at the foot of the bed, throws, colorful rugs, table cloths and great picnic blankets.
Product Info
This is a vintage piece - this is a real Cama that belonged to someone for likely decades. We take great care in hand selecting the pieces we choose and while for the most part they are in amazing conditions, these have been loved and used for many many years and therefore aren't perfect 'brandnew' items. We feel this adds to the beauty and uniqueness of these pieces, and we hope you do too.
